For the first time, Ukrainian product design will be presented at the Venice Biennale – FAINA collection by Victoria Yakusha will become a participant of the Venice Design 2019 project. Original pieces of furniture and decor with Ukrainian cultural code will be exhibit in Palazzo Michiel from May 11 to November 24, 2019.
Pioneer event VENICE DESIGN is the largest International Design exhibition running alongside La Biennale di Venezia. From May 11th to November 24th 2019, the fourth consecutive edition of VENICE DESIGN will again be hosted by the European Cultural Centre.
In the historical location of Palazzo Michiel, facing the Grand Canal, Ukrainian product design brand FAINA will present its well known and new pieces. Alongside with progressive international designers they'll invade the venue to express themselves and to propose a singular reflexion on materializing, shaping and transforming our daily environment.
This year, according to the organizers of the event, were invited designers, who influence the development of the industry and inspire their colleagues around the world.
“We wanted to create a kind of “map” of the most relevant trends in design, to collect those who boldly experiment and reproduce new meanings in the products to show their best work to a wide audience of the Biennale. In this matter, FAINA collection is a “bingo”, and we are happy that Ukraine will finally present its vision of modern product design to the world.”
– said Anais Hamoud, Venice Design program responsible.
“Having received the invitation in the autumn of last year, we carefully prepared and reasoned out the concept, so we hope to present Ukrainian design in Venice with dignity,” – says Victoria Yakusha, the author of the live Ukrainian design collection FAINA.
To emphasize the source of inspiration for her work, which Victoria scooped in her roots – the life and traditions of ancestors, the designer decided to present objects in installation with fresh ground.
“When powerful transformations occur in the world, total uncertainty and volatility reign around, naturally that a person returns to his roots. It all started out with it, and that is where the power is hidden,” – says Victoria.
In addition to furniture and decor, visitors of Venice Design will also see a documentary about the first design expedition to Ukraine for the world's design leaders "Earth Inspires", organized by the Yakusha Design team (details on the link).
